Wiltshire Creative is rooted in, and draws inspiration from, the city of Salisbury and works beyond its boundaries and draws audiences from across the county and further afield. The creation of new work is at the heart of its programme, as it builds new relationships with audiences, artists and participants.

Why we joined Without Walls

As an organisation whose work has a really wide remit, it’s really exciting for us to be part of a consortium with such specialised knowledge and exceptional experience of outdoor work.

It’s fantastic to be able to work together to support exciting artists make new, high-quality work for outdoors which can be enjoyed by such a wide range of people across all of the partner festivals across the UK. The Without Walls programme forms a core part of our International Festival programme, where brilliant, free cross-artform performances enliven the city and draw huge crowds.

It’s enabled us to build new relationships with other UK festivals and artists working across disciplines, co-commission a range of excellent outdoor performances from emerging and established companies alike.


The Salisbury International arts Festival team

Gareth Machin – Artistic Director – works with all in house and freelance programmers and oversees the programme across all strands of the organisation, as well as directing in house shows across all three strands of the organisation

Jo Newman – Associate Director – programmes theatre and circus as part of Salisbury International Arts Festival, the Salberg Studio at Salisbury Playhouse and Salisbury Arts Centre, as well as directing in house shows across all three strands of the organisation.

Lydia Scott – Associate Producer – programmes main house theatre at Salisbury Playhouse and produces in house productions across all three strands of the organisation

Juliet Coveney – Salisbury Arts Centre Manager – programmes for Salisbury Arts Centre and co-ordinates freelance programmers and hires at Salisbury Arts Centre

Mirka Golden-Hann – Resident Artist at Salisbury Arts Centre- curates the visual programme at Salisbury Arts Centre and for Salisbury International Arts Festival

Paula Hammond – Freelance Programmer – programmes dance and music at Salisbury International Arts Festival and Salisbury Arts Centre

Fiona Curtis – Festival Producer (starts beginning of August) – main contact for all festival enquiries

Emily Souter- Johnson – Artist Development Associate – meets artists, coordinates artist development workshops, a seasonal scratch night, residency opportunities and sends out a monthly newsletter and offers an open pathway into the organisation.
