Founded in 2007, Without Walls is a consortium of leading arts organisations and festivals dedicated to the development of the UK’s outdoor arts sector.

We nurture talent and skills by producing new work through commissions and co-productions, and promoting work that supports the growth of the outdoor performance sector, on both the large and small scale.
We are committed to improving the quality of the work and raising the profile of the UK outdoor arts sector on the international stage. Without Walls takes the interest of the outdoor arts sector as a whole and we network and partner with a range of other organisations and interests to achieve our aims.

Brighton Festival 4-26 May, 2013
Brighton Festival, now the largest arts festival in England, is one of the major milestones in the international cultural calendar. Over a three-week period Brighton Festival explores a wide-ranging programme across music, theatre, dance, film and literature. It has a long tradition for attracting the most exciting performers from across the globe, as well as promoting local artists, and bringing fresh, challenging new work to Brighton.
Greenwich & Docklands International Festival 20-29 June 2013
Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF) is London’s leading festival of free outdoor performing arts (theatre, dance, and street arts), an annual 10-day celebration of extraordinary outdoor events that transform people’s lives. The Festival is committed to breaking new ground in outdoor performance and raising the ambition, quality and diversity of outdoor work produced in this country, with a particular focus on the commissioning and development of outdoor work led by Deaf and disabled artists and artists from diverse backgrounds.
Hat Fair, Winchester 5-7 July 2013
Hat Fair is Britain’s longest running festival of street theatre and outdoor arts – taking place in Winchester in July every year. Now in its 38th year, Hat Fair, named after the tradition of throwing donations into performance hats, first burst onto the Winchester scene in 1974 as a busker’s festival. It has since developed a strong reputation and following, providing a weekend filled with hundreds of colourful and exciting performances.
Mintfest, Kendal 30 August – 1 September 2013
Mintfest, Kendal’s International Festival of Street Arts crams every nook and cranny of the pretty market town with wonderful performances from across the globe.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival 10 – 25 May 2013
Norfolk & Norwich Festival is a flagship arts organisation for the East of England with a reputation for innovative, inspirational programming and commissioning. In addition to staging one of the most significant arts festivals in the UK each May, Norfolk & Norwich Festival collaborates throughout the year with local, national and international partners to produce work for a huge and diverse range of audiences, participants and communities.
Salisbury International Festival 24 May – 8 June 2013
Salisbury International Arts Festival blazed into life in July 1973. Since then, over a million people have enjoyed outstanding performances of theatre, dance, film and every kind of music, plus literary events and the visual arts. From mid-May to early June each year, the beautiful historic city of Salisbury is transformed as people flock to the Festival, enjoying both ticketed events and free performances.
Stockton International Riverside Festival 31 July – 4 August 2013
Now celebrating it’s 25th year, Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF) offers five amazing days with events including; giant puppets as tall as buildings, extraordinary spectacles of light and fire on the river, circus thrills and so much more. The streets of Stockton come alive with performers from all over the world who transform the town into a theatrical feast of fun and wonder.
