Punchdrunk

Punchdrunk is an award-winning professional theatre company, specializing in the immersive experience of location and dramatic narrative. The company's theatre work usually takes place on an epic scale, staged in vast, empty buildings that are transformed into the world of the performance.

The experiential nature of the company's productions has earned it a national reputation for artistic innovation, and both public and critical acclaim for its unique ability to place the audience at the centre of the performance event. The company's performance language is essentially non-verbal and intensely physical, executed by exceptionally accomplished dancers and actors. Punchdrunk's most recent productions, Faust (produced in 2006-07 in collaboration with the National Theatre) and The Masque of the Red Death (a co-production with BAC in 2007-08) have placed the company at the forefront of immersive theatre and experiential arts practice.

In 2008-11, Punchdrunk is funded by Arts Council England, London and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation: Breakthrough Fund.
